First weeks at home: Routine, sleep, food and safe growing up

As Aria Ranch Rottweilers we are dedicated to breeding quality Rottweilers in a supportive environment for all families. Our path unites passion for Rottweilers with family values, so we have prepared short, clear tips for the first days:

A safe space

As soon as the puppy arrives, provide a quiet corner, a comfortable bed and toys. Crying in the first nights is entirely normal — it is still adjusting to a new environment.

Care for the joints (very important!)

Although our breeding includes strict health testing, including official hip and elbow examinations (HD/ED), your care at home is key to final healthy development. In the first months strictly prevent stair climbing and slips on smooth floors. Limit walk length by the rule of 5 minutes per month of age (for example at most 10 minutes at a time for a two-month-old puppy). Shorter walks must not limit socialization. So the puppy can safely meet new people and environments, simply carry it in your arms on longer outings, take it in a buggy, or settle comfortably with it on a park bench.

Routine and sleep

Establish a predictable routine of short outings and feeding at the same times. For healthy development and a balanced temperament, puppies need enormous amounts of rest — they can sleep up to 18 hours a day.

Food

Start with the same food it ate with us. Any switch to a new brand must be very gradual (mixing over several days) so you do not upset digestion. The puppy should always have fresh water available.

Veterinary visit

Because transparency about health is one of our core values, take the puppy to your veterinarian at the next scheduled vaccination. Be sure to bring its health booklet and discuss the further care schedule.
